Discover the Christmas markets in South Tyrol

Winter magic in the mountains

There is nothing like a stroll at the Christmas markets in South Tyrol to soak in the magical atmosphere of an Alpine Christmas. No surprise these traditional markets are so popular! Lights and decorations cheer up alleys and houses, while evocative melodies and tantalising scents linger in the crisp air. An atmosphere that invites to take time and enjoy the experience to the last tone, the last crumb, the last steaming cup. Because the picturesque market stalls brim with colourful Christmas decorations, toothsome South Tyrolean specialities and all sorts of local handicraft products. And when the cold starts to bite through the mittens, there are tasty ways to warm oneself up: home-made mulled wine, hot spicy apple juice, tasty soups and more.

Season’s insider tips

There are several Christmas markets you can visit in South Tyrol. We especially recommend the following:

  • The Christmas market in Brunico/Bruneck (every year from the first Advent weekend to 6th January)
  • Mountain Christmas by the picturesque Braies/Pragser lake (on Sundays and holidays during the Advent period)
  • Taufrer Advent in Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers with Christmas house and magical wood (on chosen weekends in December)
  • Christmas market in Alta Badia – a gem from the Ladin culture (in the Advent period)

Not enough? During the Christmas season we create our own little Christmas markets at the hotels... Come visit us!
