Prettau Climatic Gallery

"Special microclimate" at an altitude of about 1,200 in the heart of mountain: it is especially healthy for people with breathing problems.
Prettau Climatic Gallery
In order to have this positive effect on these people, mine galleries must meet specific quality requirements. Measurements carried out in 1991 by Prof. Dr. Deetjen showed that climatic galleries have a constant temperature of about 9°C, a high relative humidity of about 95% and a very low absolute humidity (approx. 8g of water per cubic meter of air). Other measurements showed that the dust content lies by a factor of 20 below the threshold of the values set for the purest breathable air. The measurements of the total airborne particles registered values between 1.0 and 4.5 µg/m³. Air with less than 50 µ/m³ of dust meets the criteria of the purest breathable air. The pollen content is less than that of outdoor air by a factor of 1,000. This means that we can find the cleanest breathable air in the climatic gallery: it is practically dust, allergen and pollen-free.
