in the Granary

The Steinhaus Granary, the former administrative and foodstuff center of the Prettau mine, now hosts the Steinhaus Mining Museum.

The highlight is the rich mining collection of the Enzenberg family. Precious wooden models of mining equipment, paintings, books and other finds in the mine bring back to life the history of mining in the Ahrntal. Thanks to the Virtual Cabinet of Curiosities, visitors have the opportunity, with the click of a mouse, to discover the miners' fear of mountain trolls and the various guilds that used to work in the mine.
