Year after year, visitors both young and old fall under the spell of the Christmas market’s festive atmosphere of bright lights and the scent of fir trees, tempting tasty treats and atmospheric concerts.

You can see them all at the Stegen market: the roast - chestnut vendors at the beginning of the lines of stalls. the ladies selling clothes. The leather - jacket merchants with their "very cheap - cheap jackets", the beggar with his cuddly toy monkey that dances on while its clock-work mechanism runs down, the man at the cheese stall, mulled - wine and sausage stands, a few cattle merchants, the flashing lights from the funfair, the merry company in the marquee.

The festival begins at the music pavilion at 10 am. From 11 am there will be live music, at about 1.30 pm the cattle will be driven through the village.

It has become a cult event – the Gsieser Almhüttenfest (Gsies mountain hut festival). We will celebrate Holy Mass on the mountain at 11 am and then walk uphill to the various alp huts, where you will be spoilt for gastronomic choice.
